Pilgrims in Italy

The weekend before last we had an enchanting time catching up with old Pilgrims students and staff members. We also got the chance to meet some potential Pilgrimers for this summer’s English language courses. We reminisced about our favourite events, funniest moments, the beautiful sunshine (fingers crossed for more of that), people who made a real impact and of course how excited we are for another great Pilgrims family to come together in July and August.

In Rome we met with parents to speak about our summer courses and we also had alumni students drop in and say hi. We met Filipo Martignoni who was a Pilgrims student for four years. He attended BradfieldCollege and KentCollege and when I asked him what his best Pilgrims memory was this is what he had to say.

‘It is very difficult to reduce such an important life experience to only one memory. For this reason I could say that every single moment I spent at Bradfield was significant. I could say to you that the best memory is about Bradfield itself. Those lush fields made me feel like a free bird. It was great when I received the teacher’s T-Shirt from Doris, also. But these are simply personal memories, what Pilgrims really in stills in you are values, values such as collaboration, friendship and that there’s no difference between races, beliefs and colours. Thanks to Pilgrims you can understand that in today’s world you cannot think only of yourself.’

At the party in Milan we had a great turn out of past students and staff members. An epic rooftop location over looking central Milan gave us a perfect view of the glorious sunset that enhanced the silhouette of the Alps and Apennines mountains. Afterwards, we went for gelato at Cioccolat Italiani and were thoroughly impressed by the fountain of liquid, dark and white chocolate that captures your immediate attention when walking through the front door. This is put at the bottom of your cone followed by two scoops of your personal heaven which did not last more than a few minutes (seconds for some). We heard stories of monumental challenge nights and jaw dropping fashion shows, highly competitive sports days and unforgettable staff-student productions. All in all, it was a fabulous two nights! Thank you to everyone who attended, it was lovely to meet you all and we cannot wait for another Pilgrims summer.
